The city of Évora boasts an organ heritage of recognised uniqueness in Portugal, recently restored and enhanced, which constitutes an essential reference point for the study and promotion of performance practice on the historic organ. The aim of this competition is to promote the structured dissemination of this heritage, ensuring that young organist from around the world gain an appreciation of its cultural value and its historical and artistic context, as well as the written repertoire considered appropriate for these instruments, taking into account their sonic, mechanical and stylistic characteristics.
